Yolanda Van Wingerden did an amazing job of working with me and my family to sell our mother’s home during a very sad, emotional and turbulent time. My mother passed away in May, 2020 during the beginning of the Pandemic and Yolanda offered a compassionate and professional experience to help us transition out of the home in a safe and expedient manner. Yolanda worked with my sister (who lives in Australia), my husband and I to prepare the house for selling which was no small task since it needed some work and upgrading. I could not have hoped for a better realtor than Yolanda Van Wingerden. My prospective employer introduced me to her when I first came to Santa Barbara to interview. She responded promptly and met me at the hotel the next day. She brought me some real estate listings and we discussed what I would want in a home – my first property purchase. I asked if she could help me find a rental property in the meantime, and she sent me several listings, one of which ultimately turned out to be the place I would rent upon moving here. I hadn’t realized that she had no immediate financial interest for her to find a rental, other than to help me and to establish a relationship. She genuinely sought to understand what I wanted, and carefully selected the listings accordingly. Once I found a place I liked, she encouraged me to make a prompt offer without being pushy. In the negotiation process, she was extremely professional, reliable, punctual and polite. She coordinated the process of closing escrow to make it as smooth as possible. She was efficient and firm without being aggressive, pushy or rigid. She left me not just a greeting card but a gift bag in the house to welcome me when I got the keys to my dream home. After the prior owners removed something they should have left in the house, she retrieved it on my behalf. Something I really like was hearing her think out loud about the property when we were considering our offer, weighing the pros and cons in considering the price. That's why I think she is exceptional - she is a straight shooter, yet tactful. She was honest and forthright, without being excessively blunt or overly ornate in her communications. She holds herself, her intentions and her values, to the highest standards. She was impeccable and I’m lucky to have been her client.
